Jesus is God's Unwarranted Love for the Condemned

Jesus, through John (one of Jesus' eyewitnesses) pauses in His historical account of Jesus' life to explain what Jesus is doing through His life, why He came to do it, His motivation, and why we needed it. Jesus, through John, tells us that He was sent because of God's great love which was totally UNWARRANTED. If we would only see the eternal infinite preciousness of God's love for Jesus, AND our own wickedness, we would be ASTONISHED at the love of God for the world.
