Believe His Word And Receive His Life

As the manna was sent from above from God in the wilderness, so Jesus was sent from above by God the Father. The Israelites received life (that didn't last forever) by that bread, by eating it. We receive life from Jesus by trusting in Him. We get what the Father gives to Jesus. God feeds us with the life of Jesus by giving us His Word about Jesus - the Gospel. To receive His Word about Jesus is to receive Jesus Himself. Our flesh, our human nature has no appetite for this bread, so we need God's Spirit in order to receive His Word for eternal life.
