Jesus' Love for Us is Grounded Upon God's Love for Him

Why did Jesus, God the Son, lay down His life for sinners who'd have faith in Him? Before the world was created, God the Father chose to unite Jesus to the church in such a way that He is the Head and she is part of His Body; so to care for her is to care for himself. So much so that Jesus considers whatever happens to her as happening to Him. The Father's love for the Son is because of who the Son is - including that He loves the church as His own Body - treating her guilt and death as His own, willingly suffering her judgement and facing and defeating her death. In this way Jesus' love for believers is securely grounded upon the Father's love for Him. As sure and as deep - for all who respond to the call of the Gospel with faith and repentance.
