The experts in the Bible, the leaders of God's people, meet together to decide what to do about Jesus. His miraculous signs were undeniable even to his opponents, and they were worried that He might gather a following great enough to make the Romans nervous. The High Priest, the one who was responsible for sacrificing a lamb in the place of God's people, leads the group to conclude that Jesus must be put to death in order to prevent the whole nation from being destroyed by the mighty Roman Empire. But God's plan was to use the death of Jesus to save more than just the Jewish nation, and it will secure the favor of someone much greater than Caesar. Jesus would die in the place of all who would believe from every nation and bear the wrath of God for their sins to reconcile them to God. A hostile relationship to God is much worse than a hostile relationship with Ceasar, and to be children of God is much greater than friends of Ceasar.
