When Jesus arrives with a crowd into Jerusalem for the Passover, they are expecting Him to free them from the hand of Caesar with punishing judgement on their Roman oppressors. As they are pushing the Messiah to enter with glorious fanfare, Jesus insists instead on entering with humility. One day He will come to banish rebellion and suffering. But before coming to crush rebellion He came to reconcile rebels to God by suffering for their rebellion. That way these reconciled rebels can enter into God's Kingdom with the Joy of anticipating a welcome that the Son deserves rather than the fear of what we deserve for our rebellion. Saving faith in Jesus longs for a world of justice while humbly trusting God for mercy and humbly extending mercy to others.
