God's Greatest Glory is Our Greatest Joy

Before He goes to the cross, Jesus offers up a prayer to the Father that encompasses the purpose and plan of His ministry. His purpose in ministry is to give God the greatest glory. This plan to glorify God is also the plan that gives us, as His people the greatest possible joy. We, then, find the greatest joy in knowing and proclaiming God’s glory. Jesus reveals that He achieves both God’s glorification and our joy in three ways: by manifesting God on earth, by setting apart a people to be united with God and with each other, and by keeping and guarding those people as His own for eternal life.
