Family Discussion Questions:

Younger and Older:

  • What was to remind the people of sitting down for a family meal with God?
  • The people didn't have to give gold and jewels for the tabernacle, but they did anyways.  Why would they do that?
  • The sacrifices of animals were needed for sin people to enjoy being in the House of God.  Why are those sacrifices not needed anymore?
  • Instead of wood and gold and stones, what is the House of God made up of now?

Deeper Discussion:

  • The church has often been tempted to come up with new ways to grow the family of God.  How does this passage warn us only to "build" the church in the ways Scripture gives us?
  • What are some other ways to build churches has the modern church been tempted to try?
  • How does reading about the Old Covenant promises being made and "finished" help us to patiently and eagerly wait for the Second Coming of Christ?
  • Imagine the people of Israel in Egypt received the completed book of Exodus before they left Egypt.  How would reading Exodus 35-40 for them be like the church now reading Revelation 21?
  • What are some ways that the church may or will be called to demonstrate that being in the household of God through Christ is more precious than gold or antything else?
