"You shall not commit adultery". The only, flawed, faithless, helpless Church’s confidence is that Her Groom has placed Her in a covenant and that His faithfulness is in no way dependent on what She offers Him. Jesus bore the punishment deserved by His bride, the Church, and keeps Her in His care and love with perfect faithfulness. Since Marriage was created to be a parable of such an indispensable and beautiful Gospel, those embracing this Gospel will, no doubt, be led to see their marriages (and the marriages of others) in the same way; delighting in, desiring and fighting for covenant faithfulness.
