In this passage, we find Jesus in a crowd of people who were sure that their heritage was from God - He was their Father. Jesus shows, however, that our sin reveals our true heritage. In reality, all naturally enter life with a heritage of sin, and instead of being naturally sons of God, we're naturally slaves to sin. The glorious Gospel is that Jesus took on our identity and record and heritage on the cross and received its full curse, rising victoriously over death on the third day. Those who have truly trusted Christ receive freedom from slavery to their sinful will, they will endure in their faith, and will dwell with God as His children forever.
